About Sala Virtual de Cine
The Spanish TVOD service, Sala Virtual de Cine collaborates with cinemas to complement their traditional business, by premiering the latest films just after their theatrical release or simultaneously with theatres. The service works alongside cinemas to reach audiences who want to screen at home, and it also operates a unique revenue share model. The revenue share is determined by service users who can select a local Spanish cinema to support during registration.
Sala Virtual de Cine also provides exclusive access to select films for journalists, academics and schools using user segmentation as a marketing tool for both cinemas and distributors.
Challenge
A Contracorriente Films, a Spanish film distributor and production company founded in 2009 launched online streaming platform Sala Virtual de Cine in early 2020. They later approached Magine Pro looking to change their platform provider to expand the service and improve overall quality. The partnership required scaling the service onto more applications, including web, iOS, Android, LG, Samsung TV and Amazon Fire, as well as, enabling user segmentation and facilitating their revenue share model.

Result
Migrating to the Magine Pro OTT platform enabled Sala Virtual de Cine to successfully expand onto more applications and improve the quality of their user experience and streams.
The TVOD service operates a unique revenue share with cinemas and enables users to select a local cinema to support during the registration process. Sala Virtual de Cine can also segment their users, allowing them to give exclusive access to select groups, including journalists, academics and schools.
Sala Virtual de Cine is now available on web, iOS, Android, LG, Samsung TV and Amazon Fire platforms to users in Spain.
